Kalahari is the dominant ecosystem in Botswana and it is into these soft desert sands that the Okavango Delta waters flow every year.
This breathtaking experience will take you from the waterways in the Okavango Delta into the North of Botswana to the second largest game reserve in the world, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve.
This trip starts in Maun with activities in Okavango Delta including mokoro canoing and gorgeous walks before continuing south towards to Makgadikgadi & Nxai Salt Pan.
Okavango Delta Day 1 and 2
ACTIVITIES: Mokoro dugout canoe experience, Island walk, island overnight.
Flow slowly on top of the water-ways, semi-aquatic animals can be seen, eg Hippos & crocodiles. Bird watching is excellent.
Okavango Delta - Makgadikgadi Salt pans Day 3
ACTIVITIES: the sky view, star gazing, salt pans overnight, endless white horizons as far as the eye can see.
is a once in a lifetime experience, where you spend a night on the largest salt pans in the world, which is the Makgadikgadi salt pans, in an open sky on a bedroll without a tent. Experience the silent night on the southern hemsphire sky while watching the stars and constellentions. This is a vast area of salt pans with on trees growing on them, thats whats makes them an amazing area to spend a night on. You will have your sun downer on the salt pans. Dinner sitting around the fire in the open sky where you will be having your dinner.After dinner will be star gazing until when you are ready for bed.
Your wake up time in the morning will be before sunrise so you can watch the sun rising before you depart to Nxai pan.
Nxai Pan Day 4, 5 and 6
ACTIVITY:game drive
Experience a diverse wildlife in its natural habitat. See isolated salt pans, most of the animals coming to Boteti River to quench their thirst. Highlights of Nxai Pan Game drives: One of the hidden gems of Botswana, Crossover Park between semi-arid central Kalahari and watered northern Botswana, Only park in Botswana where both springbok and impala can be seen. Aaccess to Makgadikadi and Baines' Baobabs.
Nxai pan - Central Kalahari Game Reserve Day 7, 8, 9 and 10 (Desert environment, game drives)
Our main and final stop is the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, where you will have the opportunity to see a great variety of wildlife, including desert-¬ adapted species such as oryx or springboks along with predators including lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Full day game drives as bush lunch will be served.
